MARCHES & PHYSICAL ACTIONS

Friday, February 17, 2017:

NATIONAL GENERAL STRIKE, Nationwide.
This grassroots movement started by David Simon, creator of "The Wire," is calling for a national general strike on Feburary 17th, 2017 (the Friday before President's Day) in defense of our nation’s constitution. Participants pledge to be non-violent.

On the day of the strike, we will not go to work (unless absolutely necessary). We will not go to school (unless necessary). We will not spend any money (unless necessary). Instead, we will show dissent with unconstitutional governance through gatherings and activities to be organized at the local/personal level. Some communities are planning a day of service. Instead of work, strikers will dedicate their time to serving neighbors in need. Find your people. Make your plan. Spread the word…

TAX DAY MARCH. Washington, D.C, Nationwide, Satellite Marches Nationwide.
Pres. Trump has reneged on his promise to release his tax returns. He is justifying his decision by claiming that Americans don't care about his taxes. Let's show him that we care very deeply! His tax returns will show if he has conflicts of interest through dealings with foreign governments. They will show his charitable giving -- which is suspected to be far stingier than his public claims, and his financial contributions to people and organizations that run counter to our Constitution and democracy. As of early February, at least 37 cities will have satellite marches. For more information, check out www.taxmarch.org.

SCIENCE NOT SILENCE: SCIENTISTS MARCH ON WASHINGTON, National Mall, Washington, D.C., Satellite Marches Nationwide.
According to their site, www.marchforscience.com, "Recent policy changes have caused heightened worry among scientists, and the incredible and immediate outpouring of support has made clear that these concerns are also shared by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. The mischaracterization of science as a partisan issue, which has given policymakers permission to reject overwhelming evidence, is a critical and urgent matter. It is time for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted." There is more information and a signup sheet to participate in satellite marches on their site.

"STOP TRUMP'S #SWAMPCABINET" RALLY.  Sate and national Senate offices. MoveOn.org and Working Families Party, People's Action, and other allies across the country to rally at Democratic and Republican senate offices with a clear message: "Stop the #SwampCabinet." Donald Trump riled crowds by claiming he'd "drain the swamp" and chase corruption from Washington. But, so far, he has done nothing but nominate individuals who will continue to foster the same corruption he described during his campaign.
